Office volunteer feedback

Office volunteer feedback

We’ve recently had some lovely feedback from Paige, who’s been volunteering with us in the office and just had to share it!
“I came to volunteer with Communicare as I was looking for some work experience to boost my CV as I didn’t have any work experience at all before volunteering here. I’m currently also studying towards a health and social care degree with the open university and really wanted experience working in that sector before I graduate and start looking for full-time employment.
As I was uncertain about what to expect from an office-based work environment, Communicare has given me a realistic understanding of what it’s like to work as part of a team in an office. I’ve also been able to practice new skills like making professional telephone calls and using IT programs I’m unfamiliar with.
The team made me feel welcome from the start. They’ve been very accommodating to the additional needs due to my disability, such as needing electronic information set out differently for my screen reader to read correctly and taking longer to complete ordinary tasks. They always make it seem like my contributions with the work I complete matter and have found me more work to do as necessary. The office staff are excellent! I couldn’t have hoped for a better first step towards employment. As I said they’re very accommodating of my additional needs, treat me as an equal member of the team; are kind, friendly and supportive.
I really enjoy working in the office as part of the Communicare team and would recommend it to anyone looking for something to do with their spare time, wanting to develop new skills or meet new people. Best Experience? Being able to develop my employability skills whilst working in an non-pressured situation with a lovely team. It has given the confidence to consider getting into work after graduation and I’ve loved meeting new people.”
