Haven Lunch Club – Open Day

The Haven Lunch Club invited all to join in with its Open Day today. With Church members and Communicare volunteers delivering around 1,500 flyers through local doors and a massive article in the Echo, the group was all set for a good attendance – and they weren’t disappointed! Over 60 people turned up and a good time was had by all. Guests included 100 year old Gladys, a regular member, and 1 month old Theodora, making her debut visit.

This was the final of Communicare’s events sponsored by celebration grants from Southampton City Council and was run under “The Great Get Together” banner. The day included:

• Saire Herschel, musical director, who led a “sing along”

Members of the Haven were thrilled with how the day went and are hoping that some of those who came along will want to come back. “We love our club and are always happy to welcome newcomers along”, said Norma. This sentiment was echoed by many more of the regulars.
