Tree of Light ceremony 2017

Our banners are up ready for tomorrow

Melodie, our fundraising coordinator, and Barry Wake, chair of the Woolston Millennium Garden worked hard together this week to put up the banners kindly donated by Spectrum Signs around the tree for Communicare’s Tree of Light event.

With some innovative thinking and lots of tying of knots and the assistance of various tapes they managed to get both banners up. They’re looking lucidly visible from the main road in Woolston, which is great for our advertising and getting the people in the area aware of our message; hopefully they will want to support our cause!

We are looking forward to getting into the true meaning of the Christmas spirit at our lighting up ceremony which will be taking place at the Woolston Millenium Garden. Sheriff Councillor Barnes-Andrews and his Consort Mrs. Barnes-Andrews will be there to give a short speech and countdown to the turning on of the lights at 4.30pm which will be followed by singing of carols led by local singing group The Rising Stars.

The Tree of Light campaign runs until 06 January 2018 to allow time for everyone in the community to sponsor a light in memory of their loved ones or special causes and send us any photographs/tributes/poems for the memorial book.

We will send names to The Echo for publication and in remembrance of those named people and causes.
