Tree of Light 2026
Can you believe it…this year we’re launching our 18th annual Tree of Light campaign!
The huge tree outside St James by the Park Church, Shirley, and one of the beautiful pine trees in Woolston Millennium Garden will be covered in hundreds of sponsored Christmas lights to commemorate loved ones and special causes.
The Communicare Tree of Light offers a special opportunity to remember someone dear, celebrate a life, or honour a cause that is close to your heart during the festive season. Every light sponsored helps support Communicare’s work tackling loneliness and isolation across Southampton.
The trees will be illuminated throughout the Christmas period, following our Tree of Light switch-on ceremonies:
St James by the Park Church, Shirley
Tree of Light will return to St James by the Park Church this year. Following the church’s Memorial Service at 3pm, we will be holding the first of our Tree of Light switch-on ceremonies for 2026 on November 15, 2026. The service will be followed by tea and cake, and we are also hoping to host a craft session, TBC, before the Tree of Light switch-on at 5pm.

The names of those being remembered will be published in our Remembrance Book and on a dedicated page on our website. We would love for you to send photographs, short poems, verses or tributes for inclusion in the book. Please email digital copies, or attach them to your sponsorship form and return them to us at:
