School children’s ice cream business raises £236 for us!

School children who ran an ice cream sales project with the support of Jude’s Ice Cream have helped raise £236 for us.

The year five pupils from Oakwood Primary School recently visited our offices to present their donation and find out more about our work.

Becky Wilson, Class Teacher from Oakwood Primary School on Sandpiper Road, explains: “We have been doing an ice cream business project with Jude’s Ice Cream, which is based in Hampshire, in class and part of this was for the children to design a flavour of ice cream to sell and to select a charity to donate their earnings to.

“Jude Mezger from Jude’s Ice Cream selected the winning team, whose ice cream flavour was Chocolate Fudge Crumbs, and donated the ice cream for the children to sell. The winning team then selected Communicare to receive the £236 they made, as they understood how important its work, helping eradicate loneliness and bringing people together, was.”

The winning five pupils accompanied by Head Teacher, Ian Taylor and Teaching Assistant, Louise Adams brought a giant cheque to donate to us.

Our Manager, Annie Clewlow says: “We were delighted and very touched to have been chosen to receive the children’s business project donation – what a brilliant idea! We were very heartened that the children had found us after an internet search and were particularly drawn to the fact that a lot of what we do supports the elderly. They explained that they felt that it was very important to recognise the need to care for this section of our community. With such a caring attitude already being displayed by these children, this bodes well for us all in the future! We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and were very impressed with the children’s enthusiasm and impeccable manners, they are a credit to their families and the school.”

The team also loved the children’s rap, performed on the day! Watch it here 🙂
