The last of our ‘Volunteer Story’ blogs for Volunteers’ Week 2025 shows how easy it is to become befriender for us…all you need to do is go shopping!

Friendship

Our volunteer Chris regularly takes our service user Graham shopping.

But it’s more than the physical act of going to the supermarket together once a week, the pair have formed a friendship.

More than shopping

Graham is always singing Chris’ praises and says that he does so much for him.

Graham says: “I really want him to be celebrated because he goes above and beyond to help me.”

Positive impact on life

But Chris insists it’s just as important for him as it is for Graham.

He says: “Assisting Graham with his weekly shopping has had such a positive impact on my life, I would recommend to anyone that they become a volunteer for Communicare.”

If you ever have a spare hour, or so, each week, then we’d love to hear from you, as we always need more volunteers and, like Chris, the experience may also benefit you too.
