How Freda was helped by our Travel Buddies

We recently had a lovely letter from Freda, who received support through our Travel Buddy project.

Freda was first collected on the minibus and taken to the Haven Lunch Club at St Mark’s Church.

Taking the bus together

Then, she walked with volunteer Eleanor to the bus, they took the bus together and walked from the bus stop to The Haven.

After this she chose to walk by herself the whole way to and from the Haven and continues to do this.

Then, Freda was taken by minibus to Cuppas Friendship Club. Our Travel Buddy Elaine went with her on the bus to Cuppas and back.

Cuppas is too far for Freda to walk and so she has continued to go on the bus. Since Elaine also likes Cuppas, they still go together.

Help in settling in

Freda says: “I would like to thank your very helpful and valuable team who have helped me settle into a town living environment from a rural country one.

“Your information on what is available in the community and how to get there has been so helpful. I’ve settled in with your help and met some lovely people. Please continue your valuable care and help for the community. Thank you all so much.”

Could you be a Travel Buddy?

We are looking for volunteers to join our team of ‘travel buddies’.

Please let the office team know if you are interested in helping in this way.
