Our wonderful volunteers have won an award!

It’s Volunteers Week next week and we’re delighted to announce our Communicare Volunteers have received this award for outstanding volunteering from Southampton Voluntary Services.

We nominated the whole team because of their amazing response to the covid crisis. Our volunteers were very quick to respond to our requests to volunteer in new ways, for example changing face to face befriending to telephone befriending and dramatically increasing the number of people we shop for.

Not only did they adapt so we could continue to support people, our amazing volunteers also helped us set up new services (telephone befriending, Hello Southampton Welfare Calls, pharmacy deliveries, newsletters to service users and volunteering at vaccine clinics).

We are extremely grateful both to our existing volunteers who stuck with us throughout and all the new people who have joined us this year. It’s totally true to say that we couldn’t have done it without our fantastic volunteers!
