We’re asking gardeners to get growing plants for us

We’re asking greenfingered folk from Southampton to sow extra seeds, take cuttings and grow on plants to sell to raise money for us (April 2022).

We are hosting a plant sale in May at our community bakery, CommuniBakes, and are asking for donations of plants, which will be sold to raise money to help vulnerable and isolated people in the city.

Emily Arbery, our Fundraising and Finance Coordinator, said: “We’re very excited to be able to host our plant sale at our commercial arm, CommuniBakes (21, St James Road in Shirley) on May 7 from 10am until 12.30pm. All money raised from the sale of plants will go towards furthering the work we do, helping vulnerable and isolated people in Southampton.

“We’re asking anyone out there who might be currently sowing or growing plants to please sow or plant a few extra for us and donate them to the sale. They can be dropped at CommuniBakes on the day from 8.30am.

“The sale will take place at the back of CommuniBakes and will include a variety of houseplants and garden plants. People will also be able to pick up a sweet or savoury treat from the bakery if they wish.”
