What Gift Aid means to us
We’re passionate about supporting isolated and lonely people in our city. Every donation we receive helps us provide befriending and practical help, and a sense of community to those who need it most. But did you know that your donation could go even further – at no extra cost to you – thanks to Gift Aid?
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a UK Government scheme that allows charities like us to reclaim the tax you’ve already paid on your donation. For every £1 you give, we can claim an extra 25p if you’re a UK taxpayer and simply tick the Gift Aid box. That means your generosity stretches even further, helping us reach more people in need
Why is Gift Aid Awareness Day important?
Gift Aid Awareness Day, taking place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, is all about spreading the word. Every year, around £560 million in Gift Aid goes unclaimed across the UK – money that could transform lives and strengthen communities
By raising awareness, we hope more supporters will remember to #TickTheBox when donating.
How you can help
If you’re making a donation to us or sponsoring a light for our Tree of Light campaign this year, please take a moment to fill in the Gift Aid declaration. It’s quick, easy, and makes a real difference.
You can also help by sharing our posts on social media using the hashtag #TickTheBox, or by telling friends and family about the impact of Gift Aid.
Make every donation count
Together, we can make every donation count. Thank you for supporting us – your kindness, and your Gift Aid, help us build a more connected, caring city, where Good Neighbours help each other to banish loneliness and isolation.
